A body scrub is a full body exfoliation: a textured scrub is worked over the skin to lift away dull surface cells, leaving it smoother and better able to take moisture. At Saigon Spa in Los Altos it runs 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with a Swedish massage available as a body polish.

What a body scrub does
Skin sheds constantly, and the loose surface layer is what makes it look dull and feel rough. A scrub lifts that layer away mechanically, which is why the difference is noticeable immediately rather than gradually.
Freshly exfoliated skin also takes moisturizer better, so it is worth applying some in the days afterward while it is at its most receptive.

Add the massage, or do not
Booked on its own, this is exfoliation and nothing else. Booked as a body polish, the same scrub is followed by a Swedish massage in one longer appointment.
If you are not sure, the scrub on its own is the smaller commitment and you can always add the massage next time.

What is a body scrub supposed to do?
Lift away the loose layer of surface skin so what is underneath looks brighter and feels smoother, and so moisturizer absorbs more easily.
What is the difference between a body scrub and a body polish?
A polish is the same scrub with a Swedish massage after it, in one longer appointment. A scrub is the exfoliation on its own.
Should I shave before or after?
After, and ideally not the same day. Freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive than usual.
