What happens in the room

Your therapist begins the way a Swedish massage begins, with long gliding strokes and oil, so the muscles warm before any stone touches you. The stones come in once you have settled.

Heated smooth stones are placed on the body and used in the therapist's hand as an extension of the stroke, so the warmth travels with the pressure rather than sitting in one spot.

A longer session adds time rather than speed, which means longer on whatever you point out at the start.

Well suited to

  • A first visit, if you want the full Saigon Spa experience
  • Anyone who likes warmth, or tends to run cold
  • Shoulders and upper back that feel set in place

Before you book

Warmth is the whole point of this service, so it suits you best if you like being warm. Tell your therapist straight away if a stone feels too hot.

If you are pregnant, book the prenatal massage instead. If you have a skin condition on the area being worked, or any reason to avoid applied heat, choose the Swedish massage and mention it when you arrive.

Common questions

What is a hot stone massage?

A massage where smooth heated stones are placed on the body and used in the therapist's hand alongside conventional strokes. At Saigon Spa the stones are worked into a Swedish massage rather than used on their own, which is what makes it our Signature.

Is a hot stone massage better than a regular massage?

It is different, not better. The warmth lets a therapist work at a given pressure with less force, which many guests find more comfortable. If you dislike heat, a Swedish or deep tissue massage will suit you more.

How hot are the stones?

Warm enough to feel clearly, never hot enough to be uncomfortable. Say something the moment one feels too warm and your therapist will cool it or set it aside.
